The full rosters for the 17th CVI contain information from a number of sources. The foundation is based on information in the Record of Service of Connecticut Men in the Army and Navy of the United States During the War of the Rebellion, published in Hartford by Case, Lockwood, & Brainard in 1889. Occupation and marital status was obtained from the original muster-in roll for the regiment. Later recruits do not have that information. Additional information has been added from pension and hospital records when available.
When known, service in other units has been included.
